***Kurac Od Ovce (or roughly Sheep’s Dick) were a band from town called Kutina in Croatia. They were one of great bands from that town and were the one of many Kutina’s bands/people involved around Baraka venue/project where I had so many interesting and often drunk nights and seen many good gigs. K.O.O. was formed in 1993 and had a couple of line-up changes. They play a straightforward punk/hc, somewhat reminiscent of bands like No Use For A Name, and have personal lyrics in a straight edge vein but they’re not preaching, they’re angry and they sound bloody good! This tape is their last release (third one) and it’s a double A side release, same tracks on both sides of the tape which was released on Vedran M.’s (of Nula and R.D.K. fame) label Humanita Nova.

*** Intervenzione were a hardcore punk band from Aveiro in Portugal. I’ll admit that I don’t know much about them and all info I’m sharing here comes from the booklet that was attached to the tape cover (included in the DL) and from what I found online. The band formed in 1995 after break-up of Inkisicao, and they were active until 2005. They released few songs on different compilations, had a split 7” with Yuppiecrusher from Sweden, and had 2 full length releases, “Walls Of Shame” (1999) and “Last Screams” (2009).
This tape is a cassette version of Intervenzione’s CD of the same name released by Rastilho Records from Portugal back in 1999.

*** Anti Todor, or more correctly Antitodor (both versions of the band name are used on the cover of this tape) is a band from town of Pula in Croatia formed in 1996 and “Gubitnik” (Loser) is their first official release (they had 2 demos before it). If you wonder what the band name means – Todor is a nickname of the band’s frontman. After this tape they had 2 more releases, “Ne bojim se” (2004) & “Punker” (2010). Anti Todor play 77’s punk style of music (Sale Veruda of KUD Idijoti fame has apparently helped with the sound) and lyrics cover classic despair and no future themes.

Tekst sa NSv1 (16.03.2009.):
***Brutalno Podrigivanje (Brutal Belching would be an English translation of their name) are an unique occurence in history of music. Three memebers of Brutalno Podrigivanje: El Vineros, Bumbaron & Temišvar have been creating music almost throughout all of the 20th century, travelling around the world and spreading their wisdom and good vibration tunes. This tape (which I acquired by bribing an Armenian border guard working on Romania/Moldova border post above Markuševac quadrant) is a pretty rare thing. I don’t know how many copies of this tapes are still in existence, who knows, the one I ripped from for this post might be the only surviving one! Well, I must say that I have no clue when exactly this taped document came out, but I know that Ivana Plechinger, a Croatian pop singer who used their track “Žvala ‘tica nebeska” for her hit song did her thieveing operation back in 1996 so I am presuming that it is the year of the release of this tape. And, when you look at the all encompassing harmony and artistic value of this tape, its year of release isn’t really important, the music is…
OK, now seriously, this tape was released back in 1996 or 1997 by three stooges of Pula punk movement. It is filled with their inside jokes, a lot of it is just spoken word kind of thing, they are having fun, but I doubt it will have any effects on you if you don’t speak Croatian language. The quality of the tape is pretty poor, you can hear the lot of background noises and hissing, but I like it, and that is why I wanted to have it here on Nečista Savjest. It reminds me of a darker (but somewhat innocent) days of 1990’s (Or I should have said happier? Or ignorant times?). I wouldn’t recommend downloading this to anyone who is not from Ex-Yugoslavia region as its appeal would most probably be lost on you.
Info stuff: There is no info on Brutalno Podrigivanje on the Internet, as evil pop/shit/kitsch artists teamed up with C.I.A. to suppress all information on this unique band!!!!***

Tekst sa NSv1 (10.05.2009.):
***This tape is one of my lucky finds during the recent rummaging thru my archives. Mengele are from Poland, and in spite of a scary name and even more scarier cover (depicting young Jozef Mengele) this is a really weird (in a good way) Polish band that mixes reggae, punk, dub, etc. which makes for interesting sound that sorta reminds me of Words Of Warning bands of that period. They have anti-nazi, anti-homophobic and political lyrics, and they are pretty good if you give them a chance. As I mentioned before, I am quite happy to have dug up this tape from those boxes under my bed, and I hope you’ll like them too.

Tekst sa NSv1 (14.05.2012.):
***Skretničari (closest translation I could find is “Signalmen”, like in “people who operate the rail-road switches”) were a punk band from Zagreb formed in early 1990’s. They broke up after few years due to personal tragedies (death of a member in 1993). “Sjene sa pruge” (or “Shadows From The Rail-road”) is their first and only release from that period. They reformed years later with a new line-up and released one CD (2006) and played in front of The Anti-Nowhere League in 2009. I got no clue if they’re still active, I haven’t seen any announcements of them playing somewhere recently, and as it is often the case with bands from this part of the world, it’s almost impossible to find any decent info about them online.
On a personal note, I gotta say that this is my favourite Zagreb’s street punk band of the time (early 1990’s). Their sound reminds me a little of Angelic Upstarts, and their lyrics are talking about stuff & people & feelings I could identify with at the time this tape came out. Be it drinking in the park (“Banda”) or real people they were describing (“Trfo”) or just a feeling of despair that comes from living during shitty times in a shitty capital of a shitty country. Lots of shit to fight through in life, yeah, but this release somehow still makes me feel better, even when I listen to it now.***

***Bad Justice were a political punk/core/trash/grind band from a town of Požega in Croatia. As far as I know and can remember they were formed in 1993 and were very active during second half of the 1990’s. This tape called “Greed” is their first release, they also appeared on numerous tape compilations and also have released a split CD with Radikalna Promjena back in 1999. They had many lineup changes, but I have to admit that I like them best as they sound on this tape I’m posting here, cos I like their dirty, unpolished sound, and listening this after so many years brought back nice memories of people involved with this band. Also hearing last song “Dictator Speech (outro)” in which they mixed speeches of Franjo Tuđman (Croatian president at that time) and Nazis sent chills down my spine cos it reminded me how awful and scary living was in 1990’s Croatia… I could find no info about Bad Justice on the net, but I scanned the booklet and added it to the album folder. ***

***Građani Drugog Reda (or Citizens Of The Second Order) were another band from neighbourhood of Špansko in Zagreb, the hot bed of the revolution in the late 1990’s. Their sound is straight forward anarchist punk, mixed with hardcore with a little hint of Oi!. “Krik” (“The Scream”) is their first demo, and if I remember right their only release cos sadly they were short lived act formed back in 1996 and only playing till the end of 1998. The booklet which went with the tape is included in the download folder.***
